[Hebrews 13:14-17 KJV] “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
“But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.“
The sacrifice of praise is one of the sacrifices that God is well pleased with. Others are a broken spirit and a contrite heart, the sacrifice of prayer, the sacrifice of obedience, the sacrifice of yourself, the sacrifice of giving, the sacrifice of doing good and giving to the poor. The Bible is instructing us to continually offer the sacrifices of praise which is the fruits of the lips. The sacrifice is the sounds and the words that comes from your mouth; not what you dance to.
“Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: Build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: Then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar”. (Psalm 51:14-19 KJV)
To offer the sacrifices of praise:
- Come before the Lord with a broken spirit and a contrite heart: You cannot come before the Lord covering your sins. You come before the Lord having bluntantly disrespected Him to sing? Sing what! God is not seeking burnt offerings and your beautiful costumes while our hearts are darkened with pride and wickedness.
- Ask God to forgive and deliver you from bloodguiltiness: Ask God to open your lips and your mouth will sing His praises! That is how you prepare to sing His praises. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to sing the praises of the Lord and to tell of His wondrous works
- Select songs that tell of the wondrous works of God: Appropriate instruments that should accompany your praise. Every Christian must have a song list. Select songs that enthrone God. Sing as unto your king, your lover, your creator, your protector, your provider.
- Sing aloud with your tongue and lips: The song must be loud and you must know the scriptures. You must prepare your heart with the scriptures! (Psalm 149) Those around you must hear your songs of praise and adoration!
Have a nice day and stay blessed
