Elijah did not manufacture fire; he simply prepared the altar and prayed, and heaven answered with a fire so consuming that even the water in the trench disappeared.

The contest on Mount Carmel was never really about Elijah’s power against Baal’s prophets; it was about whose God could answer by fire. Elijah, confident in the living God, drenched the altar with water three times over, removing every possible natural explanation, before he prayed a short, simple prayer of faith.
The fire that fell was not ordinary; it consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the dust, and even licked up the water in the trench, leaving no doubt about whose God had answered.
This is the fire we need afresh this month, not a fire that merely warms us emotionally in a service, but a consuming fire that settles, once and for all, every question about whether God is truly at work among us.
Pray for fire that consumes complacency, fire that consumes fear, fire that consumes compromise, fire that consumes every rival altar competing for your worship, career, comfort, popularity, even ministry itself when it becomes more about performance than devotion.
Like Elijah, prepare your altar honestly before God; do not hide behind excuses or half-hearted commitment. Then pray in simple faith, and watch the fire of the Lord fall in a way that leaves no doubt to those watching that the Lord, He is God.
