“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” – MATTHEW 9:37-38 (KJV)
Jesus looked at a ready harvest and did not first command His disciples to go; He commanded them to pray. The shortage in soul-winning is rarely a shortage of harvest; it is a shortage of labourers willing to work it.
This month, pray specifically that God would raise, equip, and thrust forth labourers, perhaps beginning with you, into the fields that are already white unto harvest.
Before the sending of the twelve in the following chapter, Jesus first taught His disciples to pray for labourers. This order matters. It reveals that God’s harvest strategy always begins in the place of prayer before it moves into the field of labour.
Jesus looked upon multitudes scattered like sheep without a shepherd and was moved with compassion, not frustration at their condition, but compassion that stirred Him to mobilise workers.
This month, look around your own city, your workplace, your family, and your neighbourhood with the same eyes of compassion. The harvest is not lacking; people are hungry for meaning, searching for hope, weary from carrying burdens alone. What is lacking is labourers, those willing to give their time, comfort, and resources to bring in this harvest.
Pray specifically that God would raise faithful, Spirit-filled labourers for HighCity Church’s evangelism, missions, and discipleship efforts. Pray that God would thrust out labourers into unreached communities, into schools, into workplaces, into the marketplace.
And do not merely pray for others to go, ask God whether He is calling you, even now, to become one of the labourers you are praying for. The Lord of the harvest is listening for this prayer, and He delights to answer it by raising sent ones from among those who ask.

- Lord of the harvest, send forth labourers into every field that is ripe unto harvest.
- Father, raise up faithful, Spirit-filled workers for HighCity Church’s evangelism and missions.
- In the name of Jesus, show me my own part in this harvest and give me grace to labour faithfully.
