[Acts 8:4-13 KJV] “Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.”
“For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city. But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.”
“And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.”
One of the key factors that affect the growth and increase of the word of God in any city is the presence and operations of strange personalities in that city.
Strange persons like Simon the Sorcerer have supernatural endowment from demons and they try to control the social environment of cities. They seem to be the toast and inspiration of many people in the city and lead the generations contrary to the place God is taking them. Simon the Sorcerer had Samaria at his fingertips; he controlled the city. The people called him the power of God. He hated true religion and God worship. He tends to control the minds of the people and the spirit of the city.
Today, as we lift up prayer and fast, we pray that God will stir up supernatural powers among us. God should begin to work miracles among us that will tame the powers of wizards. I pray that God will revive His works in the midst of the years. Many people will believe when they see the miracles. We want to work the miracles. We want to experience the miracles. We want the touch of His power.
- Lift up your hands and voice and begin to praise the name of the Lord. Pray that the name of the Lord would be hallowed. Let us praise the Lord!
- Pray that any spell that has been cast over the city to stop the true worship of God must be broken.
- Pray for the spirit the miracle-working power of God. Pray that God would work the supernatural among us. Pray that the sick shall be healed and miracles would happen in Jesus’s name.
- Pray that any barriers to the working of miracles in our lives shall be broken. Pray for a free flow of the spirit of God. Lift up your voice and pray.
- Pray that there shall be a rain of the spirit. This is a new day, and may God rain His rain upon you in the name of Jesus Christ! Receive a touch of His power!
- Pray that the Lord shall anoint us. Pray that God would release His spirit upon us for the manifestations of miracles. Pray that we shall see the mighty hand of God at work in us now!
- Pray and thank God for fresh anointing. Thank God for coming to town to break the hold of darkness! pray!
