We understand that in the last days perilous times shall come, in fact, very dangerous times shall come. The very people that live in that day shall be a danger to others. This is why we are admonished to turn away from those who have a form of godliness but deny the power of God.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 KJV)
The Apostle Paul by the power of the Holy Ghost reveals that the people of the day shall make the days perilous. Indeed, men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, boasters, high minded but above all, some shall have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. This last group of people poses the biggest threat to faith in these last days.
This group of hypocrites is the tares sown among us because they look in every way like us but only in outward appearance. They look in every way like us but they are not as we are. They reject the power and nature of godliness. They are only deceiving people. Their actions and choices mock genuine faith. They by their double standard life make a loud statement that it is possible to be anything and still be a Christian when scripture says we are called to conform to the image of the dear son of God.
The Bible does not mince words at all, nothing that has been spoken in it is useless. People who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof are very dangerous people. They just mimic the motions of faith and spirituality. They appear very spiritual but lack real spiritual passion. They weaken real faith and loyalty. These are people suffering from duality. They can easily deceive silly and undiscerning people.
Lukewarm brethren are dangerous. They are the people who create all the problems. They are as the fig-tree our Lord Jesus cursed. They put up flamboyant leaves yet they are unfruitful because of the lust in their eyes, the pride of life, the deceitfulness of riches, and the cares of life. Such brethren and friends would sap all your spiritual energy. Their superficial and sacrilegious comments will attack and weaken your faith; please turn away from them.
These are tares; very unfruitful and barren. Beware, they may look like us; but not of us. They have been planted around you to weaken your foundation and sap your energy. The Bible calls them the mixed multitude (See Exodus 12:38). They may be traveling with us but not for the same reasons or motivation (Numbers 11:4).
We are making a journey with Jesus; He will never fail us. Let us focus and be watchful. The days are evil and you cannot lose guard. May God help you to sort your acquaintances well before your trip.
Stay blessed; I love you!
Simpe
